We had a lovely sail on a day when the breeze peaked at 10 knots, and was usually much less, and still the Moody was sweet to handle.
This is a really well-thought-out boat. The owner had only had a short run offshore, but found she handled 25 knots on the nose really well,
“So many of our owners go long-distance sailing,” says Ron Jacobs, “but they also like taking their mates for a fun day out. Entertainment is big.”
What I like about Bavarias is that they’re straightforward; the builders don’t gallop off following fashionable trends unless they’re worthwhile.
If I wanted to mix cruising and racing I wouldn't go past this X-41 to get to a more hedonistic boat.
As with all Hanses, the self-tacking jib helps define the boat’s character. Social sailors who may be put off by the busy-ness of tacking headsails will be astounded by the way this boat handles under sail.
