Goboating was established in 1979 by John Troy and Bob Halliday, two names synonymous with boat racing in Australia.
John’s history in boating goes way back. Before starting Goboating John had previously worked for Marine Power (Mercury Marine) and the Troy family had been boating since the end of WW2. In fact John was a passenger in the first boat in Australia to break the 100mph barrier with his two brothers Brian and Harold. By all accounts a very exciting ride.
Bob Halliday started racing in 1968 in the 45ci class and raced through to 1994 competing in all outboard classes and winning championships in every class, including winning many races in the unlimited hydro class. Through this time Bob built and maintained his own equipment and was one of only two drivers who drove for the Mercury Factory Team.
Today Goboating’s focus is on sales and service of all boats in the Liverpool area with Mercury Outboards and Brooker Boats. We have a small team of 5 people, however we have many years of hands on experience across all boating areas and will be able to look after all your requirements.
