Enjoy the Charisma of a Bygone Era !

This masterbuilt, gaff rigged 60 foot schooner built using 2” spotted gum planks on 3” x 4” spotted gum frames was designed by Jack Savage and completed in Taree in the 60’s to take on some of the wildest oceans on the planet – the Southern and Antarctic.

Her 55 tonnes attests the fact that she is very heavily built for riding out severe conditions at sea with an aft wheelhouse, midships full access engineroom housing a 140hp Mercedes diesel, and a lead keel drawing a total of 2.4m. She even boasts a custom designed and made bronze propeller which not only feathers, but can have its pitch adjusted whilst underway to maximise her motion in any conditions.

The current owner has done a refurbishment of all spars and the bowsprit, with her rigging also being replaced about 6 years ago. She carries solar, a HWS, radar, GPS/Plotter and autopilot, and has been slipped and repainted fairly recently. Being one of the ships in the Tall Ships Parade featured during the Bicentennial celebrations on Sydney Harbour, she is truly an apt and fitting tribute to times past, though with modern day trimmings !
