Successful high-end charter business for sale in the most highly sought-after Pacific location.

UNIQUE CHARTERS LIMITED is a Fijian registered company which includes a Fijian flagged luxury catamaran launched in 2012 and equipped for fully crewed cruising charters for groups of up to 8 people overnight, or 16 day passengers.

Owning a business in Fiji offers many advantages, including Fijian residency and work permits for the owners. As an additional incentive, significant income tax reduction have just taken place, offering a higher return. Local demand for charters is extremely high, with quality charter operations often booked out up to 18 months ahead.

UNIQUE CHARTERS represents a rare opportunity to invest in the thriving Fijian tourism industry for an owner operator or as a fully managed offshore investment.

The yacht presents in immaculate condition and ready to receive guests today.

Unique has been chartering successfully in Fiji from 2013 through until mid 2016 before she was taken out of charter as a private vessel for a family trip. The vessel had rave reviews with many repeat customers. For the first year and a half the owners chartered with up to 8 guests and 2 crew. However, to improve the customer experience and to assist the crew, they later reduced to 6 guests and three crew. The safe manning certificate for Unique requires just two crew – one with a Deck Watch Rating or equivalent and one with a Class 6 commercial.

Unique won the 2013 Aon Fiji Tourism Award in the category of Unique Accomodation.

Over the three years of charter activities, the company saw revenue of FJ$1.4 million.

With 6 guests the vessel charters for FJ$6,500 per day including all meals, soft drink, juices and water. Alcohol is provided at the guests expense, which is purchased wholesale and sold to the guests at retail. Sales tax on the above rate is VAT only at 9%.

The company comes with full compliance paperwork, tax registration and Investment Fiji approvals and will allow any purchaser to move to Fiji under an investors permit to work immediately.

In addition the purchaser will receive all marketing and back of house collateral including the following:

  • Unique Charters Domain including website and email
  • Charter Agreements
  • Contact list of all past charterers
  • Introduction to all international booking agents • Logo and logo package
  • Booking forms

Built by Gavin Cooke in Christchurch, NZ as a personal vessel, he sold to Graeme and Nigel Skeggs in 2011 where the vessel was completed and rigged at Dickson Boatbuilders in Nelson, NZ.

Gavin is an experienced sailor so it was important for the vessel to have good sailing qualities. It also had to be a very liveable vessel and strong as Gavin’s plans included cruising the entire New Zealand coast. Being a “Southern Man” Gavin was very mindful of the foul weather that can be served up around New Zealand’s coast so the vessel had to be built to cope with whatever came. Plenty of deck space and in particular a generous after deck cockpit is devoted to alfresco entertaining.

The ability to charter the vessel also came into the planning. Ventilation throughout the vessel was important and being a boat builder’s own boat, the vessel was to be uncomplicated and easy to maintain with good access to all areas. Workmanship is without compromise and the finish is to superyacht standard. A tribute to a true craftsman.

Gavin has actively involved in boat design and building since 1964. Over this period, 30 of his innovative designs from his extensive portfolio have been successfully commercialised, including the 36 ft catamaran “Freedom Machine”, leading to the production of approximately 2000 vessels, a number of which have gone to offshore clients. Gavin can also add to his comprehensive abilities, New Zealand titleholder in yachting, and power boating in both Vee bottoms and tunnel hull catamarans. Gavin is the only New Zealander who has designed, built, driven and sailed both powerboats and yachts to achieve National titles.

Once launched in 2012, Unique sailed to Fiji where she was chartered extensively in the high end market by Nigel and Susan Skeggs who come from a superyacht background. The charter business is a Fiji Registered Company called Unique Charters Limited and the vessel is Duty paid and registered in Fiji.

Recently Unique was taken out of charter where Nigel and Susan lived on board for 10 months sailing 7000nm around the Pacific with their 5 and 7 year old daughters. The vessel has recently returned to Fiji where she is now lying and up for sale as boat only or as a going concern with the company and all marketing assets included. With the new electric drive, battery and solar system on board the family did this trip using only 3,000 litres of diesel.

Unique is set up for easy single handed sailing with all halyards, reefing lines and sail control lines led under the bridge deck to the 2 x electric cockpit winches.

A powerful and fun yacht to sail, Unique has proven to be very forgiving and strong in adverse weather conditions, a fast passage maker and an incredibly safe offshore vessel.
