DESCRIPTION

'Moana Roa' - Polynesian for 'Everlasting Ocean', has always been privately owned and never chartered.
She was built in France in 2002 and sailed across the Atlantic to the Caribbean in 2004 where she was sailed during the sailing season for 8 years until purchased by her current owners.
She then spent her final year in the Caribbean in 2013, where she was extensively refitted before setting off across the Pacific in 2014, arriving in Australia in November 2014 after an idyllic cruise.
'Moana Roa' was commissioned with serious cruising in mind, including a larger, stronger mast than the standard version, which included a third spreader and extra set of diamonds.
Oversize Lewmar Genoa winches (54 instead of 50) were fitted, as well as the mainsheet traveler winch (44 instead of 30). A rigid fiberglass footbridge was designed to safely access the boom and stack pack.
To never have to worry about power a 6.5KW Kohler diesel generator was added, as well as a 90 Amp Mastervolt alternator on stbd. engine.
As the owners cruising with their young family, safety at sea was further increased by securing the forward section of the hull with watertight bulkheads.
Additional stainless steel bar-work on the top of the transom steps were engineered, as well as stronger davits (Marchioness 56) to support solar panels and hoist the dinghy.
As steering is more enjoyable in company a large triple helm seat was fitted.
LED lights throughout.
For a more comfortable night, especially in the tropics, the owner's cabin was fitted with a full queen-sized bed instead of the semi-island double bed.
As work sometimes had to continue during the cruise the office space in the master suite was increased and a satellite phone installed.
To maximize space midships, fit a 3.5kg washing machine and provide extra cupboard space the electric toilet in the master's ensuite was built forward into the bathroom.
In the port hull - a large workshop area also equipped with freezer and overhead shelving is accessed through watertight hatches.
All the engineering and shipwright work was carried out by highly qualified professionals working in relation with Fontaine Pajot to ensure a flawless finish in accordance with the manufacturer's design.
A catwalk with two separate trampolines (new 2013) stiffens the forward section, with an anchor chain track to the bow, bowsprit and furling Genaker.
Her standing rigging was fully replaced in 2013.
Both Yanmar leg drives were replaced in 2013.
All house batteries replaced in 2014.
New Sunbrella cockpit covers with side and rear protection panels fitted in 2013.
Aluminum bottom RIB (AB design 3.25m) new 2013.
Cruising electronics package including chartplotter with multifunction display, AIS transceiver, etc.) new 2013
All safety equipment (life jackets, lanyards, fire extinguishers, flares, EPIRB, bilge alarms, life raft, etc.) was serviced, updated or replaced prior to the Pacific crossing in 2013.

The Bahia 46 combines performance and elegance. features include a great balance under sail with an easy to handle Genoa; a large and user-friendly helm station; a vast and well protected cockpit, and a clean deck plan.
