Built in Germany in 2010, this Hanse 545 is now For Sale with YOTI at the Boatworks, Gold Coast Marine Precinct, Queensland.
With the eye-catching Hanse 545, the German boat builder continues the theme of minimalist topside layout and a sleek, contemporary-looking hull. The hull has little overhangs, carries plenty of volume aft and includes a wide-open stern with a hydraulic flip-down swim platform that protects a dinghy garage.
The low coach roof with flush hatches and hidden line gutters gives clear views along the wide decks, devoid of the usual running rigging clutter, thanks to Hanse's unique sheeting arrangements and trademark self-tacking jib. It provides the helmsman with excellent visibility and confidence for those tight marina manoeuvres backed up by the retractable bow thruster.
The massive cockpit, with a full set of cushions, has all sail control lines neatly running to the twin helms with twin electric Lewmar 54 winches, leaving a pristine clean cabin top where two blocks control the big mainsail. Her tall, three-spreader Selden rig was fully re-rigged in Nov '21. It houses the vertically battened in-mast mainsail, effortlessly operated by the manual Selden continuous line drive from the cockpit. The self-tacking jib, with below deck furler line, makes shorthanded sailing and tacking a dream.
The minimalist design continues below decks, with a chic and contemporary living space. Four vertical, superyacht-like hull windows ensure plenty of natural light. To port is the dedicated nav station and L-shaped settee with large table, with another settee to starboard. The L-shaped galley is to starboard of the companionway, with ample working surfaces, dual entry fridge, drawer style freezer, microwave and storage. The new owner will need to install an Australian-compliant gas oven and installation or use this opportunity to change to electric cooking.
Sweet Caroline's interior has a very spacious master cabin aft, with an island-style berth at the centre line, a settee to port, and plenty of storage. This cabins' access is from both sides of the saloon, with the ensuite head with shower in the port passage.
The two comfortable guest cabins are forward of the saloon, with an ensuite head & shower to the port cabin and a head & shower in the passageway for the starboard cabin. This head also serves as a "day" head. On the foredeck, a large hatch hides a large sail locker fitted with two crew bunks and a head.
'Sweet Caroline' was ordered with the larger Yanmar 110Hp shaft drive diesel and three-blade feathering prop. In addition, a Fisher Panda 6KVA Genset will run her full ship air conditioning while providing the backup charging system. Other notable other upgrades in late 2021 are: Victron 3000 watt battery charger/ inverter, B & G Zeus 12" and 10" plotters, 5 x B& G Multi Displays at the helm station, Simrad Multi-display and Class B Ais Transponder at nav station and 4 Victron AGM service batteries. Her underwater ship had been brought back to GRP, primed and just been antifouled at the Boatworks
