DESCRIPTION
Hijinx is 2006 X-Yachts X35 now for sale exclusively with the YOTI team in Queensland.
Designed by Niels Jeppesen, the X-35 is designed to perform in close fleet racing and as a fast-sailing yacht during family cruises. She proves this time and time again and gives her owner and crew a great sail in all conditions.
Her hull, keel and rudder configuration give the helmsman a very light and direct feel of the yacht, and she responds immediately to minor corrections. With the powerful mainsail and jib, the sail plan allows fast acceleration out of tacks and keeps her in the fast lane upwind.
The non-overlapping jib makes it easy for a shorthanded crew or family to sail the X-35.
Much attention has been paid to details on deck to make the X-35 easy to handle. Her cockpit is open and functional, with a pleasingly clean layout. Her large wheel gives the helmsman a good view of the foresail and gives a beautiful light feel on all points of sail.
On top of the coach roof, her refined control line system keeps the cockpit clutter-free, and the layout is well-designed for racing or cruising. Towable genoa cars, tweakers, Barber haulers, and plenty of cam cleats make for easy racing or cruising. A nice feature is the jib in-hauler system for improved and effective jib control, which runs neatly under the deck and back to the cockpit. All the deck equipment has been specially selected from top market brands in accordance with the X-35's design and high-performance criteria.
Hijinx is a well-maintained and equipped example of the model. Stepping below, the finish exudes the quality you expect from such a renowned builder of top-class yachts. The settee berths are a good size, with a removal table in the saloon. There is a roomy forward cabin with a V-berth and two good-sized berths each quarter. The 20HP Yanmar diesel, under the companionway, drives a two-bladed folding propeller.
The current owner has spared no expense in maintaining and upgrading his boat. The sails are all in good or excellent condition, and the Rod rigging was replaced in 2020, and a new tuff luff fitted to the forestay. All the running rigging is in good condition.
Hijinx is beautifully finished internally in Mahogany trim. Many of her cushion covers have recently been replaced, and she comes with an extensive electronics package and computer, enabling navigation charts on a flatscreen TV.
