Despite the recent business slowdown, Mercury has maintained its commitment to staff training as a long-term investment for the company and its customers.
In 2009, approximately 30% of Mercury’s entire Australian staff received training towards a recognised qualification.
This year, the percentage will be even higher.
Most recently, five staff members from Mercury’s Australian headquarters in Dandenong, Melbourne, completed their Certificate IV in Business Administration.
“As a business, our people are the most valuable asset we have,” said John Temple, General Manager, Australia, New Zealand Pacific.
“With about third of our staff receiving training at any one time you can see we make a considerable investment, but it means we have highly skilled staff.”
“The market slowdown saw a lot of companies cut back. We did the opposite, we pushed ahead with retail activity and maintained our staff training budget because it’s too important for the future of our business,”
All Mercury’s staff training is conducted by an accredited training organisation and all qualifications are fully recognised.
“Ultimately, it’s our customers who see the benefit with better service, better decisions, better products,” Mr Temple said
